nNED The Penguin - NNED’s New Mascot
When Fernando Flamingo was tragically assassinated by the Spanish Eastern District early in 2007, NNED Royal Rangers lost a beloved mascot and a fine-feathered friend. A new symbol of inspiration was “nneeded”. Enter nNED the Penguin. He made his first appearance at the 2008 Regional Conference to promote WNTC, and after spending a little time in the frozen tundra of Maine, found the District to be quite like his native Antarctica, settling in an igloo at the base of the White Mountains in North Sandwich, New Hampshire, the hometown of District Commander Jerry Love. After meeting Commander Jerry, and learning about the Rangers ministry and its mission, nNED’s cold blood turned warm with excitement and passion! nNED is eagerly anticipating being a part of upcoming Ranger events throughout the District (that bears his name), the region, and hopefully soon the nation, as he plans to make himself known to Rangers everywhere! His goal is to witness to people everywhere about the Royal Rangers ministry and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Already, his impact is starting to be felt. Commander Jerry commented, “If you thought Fernando was a go-getter, wait’ll you see the impact nNED will have on this ministry. His “happy feet” will be travelling all over the country spreading the good news, and the “Good News”. Watch for this rolly polly penguin coming soon to an Outpost near you!”
nNED may only be five feet tall, but he is fast becoming a larger than life figure in the Northern New England District.
