2009 Leaders Conference
Fellow Royal Ranger Leaders:
The 2009 Leaders Conference is just around corner. The dates are January 23-24, 2009.
We have selected a new and improved location for the 2009 Leaders Conference! The response to the change of venue last year was very positive and we had outstanding attendance. We also had some challenging issues to deal with regarding the facilities and felt it would be beneficial to make another move. The Conference will be held at Fountain of Life Center in Burlington, New Jersey. This beautiful Assemblies of God facility is located on 106 acres and we will have adequate space for seminars, exhibits and our meals. Lodging will be available at nearby hotels.
The goals and purpose of the Regional Leaders Conference remain the same. You will find opportunity to receive excellent training; there will be plenty of time for fellowship with others; and you will be blessed spiritually with the Word of God and Praise & Worship. We as leaders need God’s anointing on our ministry as we reach boys for Christ. We also need training and inspiration to help us be relevant and effective to the iPod generation of Rangers.
Perry David Siddle
August 3, 1958 – October 10, 2008
It is with great sorrow I write to announce that Perry David Siddle (50), our esteemed national Royal Rangers training coordinator, was called home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, October 10, 2008, in Springfield, Missouri after a sudden yet valiant fight against cancer.
Perry joined the national team in June 2007 after serving as a Royal Rangers commander at First Assembly of God in Augusta, Georgia, on the Georgia district staff, and on the Southwest Region staff for many years. Like so many of our leaders, Perry was a model of godly manhood. He loved God most, was fully invested in the wellbeing of his family, and worked a job to support his family and underwrite his involvement in the ministries of this Church. As national training coordinator, Perry was diligent, effective, and always cheerful.
I first met Perry in 2002 when he was called upon to spend a few weeks at the national office working on some writing assignments. I quickly learned of his great love for missions. Years later Perry would challenge his district to raise missions funds for Royal Rangers International, suggesting that he would eat dog food if the goal they were aiming for was met. And, yes, as promised, he ate the dog food! He always quipped that the experience made his hair more shinny. Perry knew how to set worthy goals and rally others to help reach them.

Hello, everyone. Here is some more good news concerning Perry.
Yesterday he was sent home! He has responded well thus far to the seven-day chemo treatment he received. He will have a week off and then another week of chemo, outpatient.
Perry is a walking miracle but is still in need of our earnest prayers—that the cancer in his stomach would be eliminated and that his liver would be completely healed. Also, pray for Perry's overall strength and wellbeing.
Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and expressions of love. Over 100 birthday cards were received in response to our email inviting your participation. During the 10 days Perry's life rested in the balance, he described hearing thousands of prayers being offered in unison on his behalf! God is answering our prayers.
Please continue to storm heaven on Perry's behalf, and trust the Healer for his complete and perfect wholeness.
Thankful for your prayers,
Doug Marsh
National Director Royal Rangers
John P. Overton - 1945-2008
Dear Royal Rangers Family:
It is with great sadness that we wish to inform you that on Sunday evening, June 22nd at around 9:30 pm, New York District Commander John P. Overton went to be with the Lord. Commander John had suffered a heart attack while at his home in Amherst, NY. He will be deeply missed.
John was one of the longest-standing district commanders in our nation, having served for the past 21 years (1987-2008). He was the recipient of the Royal Rangers district commander’s “Silver Eagle Award” 18 times. Prior to becoming district commander, John served as district training coordinator and served in Royal Rangers at his home church, Evangel A/G (Outpost 66) in Buffalo.
John served his country in both the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserves. He was chosen as NY District Honor Bound “Man of the Year” in 2005. John had a great love for God, his family and his country. His combined love for the outdoors and for the souls of boys compelled him serve in the Royal Rangers ministry for all these years. John’s vision was to see boys won for Christ and to have a camp facility in New York State were boys from across the district can come and enjoy God’s creation while learning more about our Savior, Jesus. This vision began with the Royal Rangers Camp in Greene, NY, in 2000.
Floyd Larson - Homecoming
Royal Rangers & Friends,
We extend our sympathy to the Larson family on the passing of Commander Floyd Larson. He went home to be with our Lord this past Sunday morning. Commander Larson was one of the early pioneers of Royal Rangers – serving office on the first National Council in 1969. He served as the Men’s Director in the Southern New England District and he went onto serve as the first Northeast Regional Coordinator. He also served on many National Training Camp staffs and had a tremendous impact on the lives of multiple men and boys through Rangers. Floyd blessed many lives with his dedication to God and Royal Rangers and he will be greatly missed.
