2005 Colonials Territorial Rendezvous Recap

2005 Colonials Territorial Rendezvous Recap...

On October 20, 2005 FCF members from all over the Colonials Territory began arriving at the New York District Royal Rangers Campground. The '05 Territorial Rendezvous was held outside Greene, New York with Fred Deaver, National FCF President Emeritus as the guest speaker. A total of 285 members set up a 102 shelters.

Set-up began on Thursday, October 20th on a hillside at the edge of a state forest, with wonderful weather and beautiful fall foliage. There was excitement in the camp late Thursday night when a marquee caught fire. With God's grace no one was injured and the flames were extinguished before spreading to neighbouring shelters. The members of the lost shelter found accommodations with fellow FCF members and were able to go home and return with an additional shelter later that day. A fire wasn't going to keep them away from this event. Friday brought another beautiful day and the activities got started with the Wilderness Vigil. Friday night we had a time of fellowship and praise and worship. Fred Deaver gave a message from the word. It began to rain early Saturday morning, however it did not hinder the wilderness candidates from completing their vigil. The rain continued off and on throughout the day with the members completing the competitions. Rain in the afternoon did cause the missions auction and the evening service to be cancelled. Members got together Saturday evening and held their own devotions in their shelters. Sunday morning Fred Deaver brought a wonderful word on listening to those who have come and gone before you. Nine new wilderness members and the competition winners were recognized.

Daniel "Soaring Eagle" Thomas of the Adirondack Chapter was elected as the National Scout and Jeremy "Running White Bull" Fudalik of the John Fenwick Chapter was elected as the Territorial Scout.
